Just as we get to the middle of one season, it seems like “everyone” is already looking forward to the next one.
Sure, the weather may not always be our favorite, circumstances can be really tough, and we do have favorite things to anticipate, but this bustle for the “next thing” steals a lot of joy that can be found right here, right now.
It may be a hard season, right here, right now. You may be celebrating weddings at the same time as walking with a loved one who’s getting ready to take their final journey, and it’s just plain hard to hold both in your hands & heart at the same time. It’s okay to alternate between feeling happy or sad every day of the week, it’s normal to want to feel happy, but it seems impossible in the moment.
I, for one, am so thankful that God has all things in His hands, that His plan for all things is perfectly worked out all the time (hard to understand though it may seem). He gives joy in the midst of sorrow, His sustaining strength carries me through whether I have any at the moment or not. He is good, all the time!
TIPS FOR ENJOYING CHANGE
Journal what you feel & think about
Exercise, drink water, eat…taking care of our bodies goes a long way in supporting the emotional & mental parts of us
Cry when you feel like it
Find something to savor every day, take a photo of it, write about what you noticed
Notice the nuances of the weather, what stands out to you the most? What do you find to be the most beautiful in it?
Use essential oils, these little bottles of plant goodness are AMAZING for emotional & mental support. The limbic system in the brain is the place where we store emotions, it can only be activated by the sense of smell, and inhaling oils can help the body process and release emotions you don’t want to hold on to! Find a therapist who can help you sort out feelings & thoughts
Invest in friends and family, spend time with those you love
How are you going to savor today?
