It’s official! Texas has been home for TEN WHOLE YEARS today!
We left the snowy state of Michigan on the evening of December 24th, 2008, with a full-to-the-brim Penske truck, a minivan full of people, instruments, pets, and a miniature, lighted Christmas tree (for holiday spirit!).
Bye, bye house…we loved living & growing in you!
Several friends kindly came over to shovel the driveway, pack the truck, and even feed us! These special people brought food, dishes, and even took those dishes home to be washed!
Other friends lent us strong arms and we tried to convince them to lift a finger…
The cats, who normally kept their distance from each other, called a truce and slept in the same lap.
The dogs had the van trunk to themselves and were such good sports! Only a couple yips because one crossed that invisible line between them :D
Feelin’ more Texan by the mile!
And our very first Texas sunset! (The first of many, now I photograph them all the time!)
Hello new rental house!
Became part of the culture really fast…state-shaped cookie/biscuit cutter for the win!
We loved switching out the sweaters for…
…really-truly Western wear! I mean, you kinda just HAVE to send this sort of thing in your first Texas Christmas card…right?
The Lord has been so good to us, from the very beginning of this journey He ordered our steps and showed us the way to go. He’s blessed us with a church home, many friends who have become family, and we look forward to all He has in store for us!
Have you ever made a big move?
